So.. Payday 2 works fine on my desktop and not on my laptop, it crashes on startup.  No amount of validating files or re installing worked, but this did.

My crash logs were talking about a “renderer” thread.  No help from the Payday 2 forums so……

1:  Download the following file:  http://www.mediafire.com/download/xbop42oorjatx96/d3d9.dll

(backup link: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B-Lrwww03sbeazNjckpxTmxiQzQ/view?usp=sharing)

2:  Copy it into the game’s root folder (eg C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\PAYDAY 2)

3:  Profit
